Parts off the mill

Every part on this page came off one of the four CNC machining centers in our Grand Prairie shop. Billet aluminum, finish-machined castings, copper, and steel all run through the same CNC milling services. As a result, a prototype quantity and a production release get the same programming, whether the customer is in Dallas, Texas or across the country.

Billet aluminum

Custom CNC milled parts from solid

We cut these from aluminum bar and plate on 12,000 RPM spindles inside a tightly controlled work envelope. Because aluminum moves fast on the machine, a part milled from solid often costs less than the welded assembly it replaces. In fact, most of the custom CNC milled parts we quote start here.

Castings

Finish machining aluminum castings

Castings are their own problem. First, stock varies part to part. Second, datums have to come off an as-cast surface. Above all, fixturing carries more of the risk than the cutting does. So if you have a foundry and need someone to take the casting the rest of the way, this is routine work for our CNC milling services.

Copper and steel

Beyond aluminum

Copper is gummy and pushes back against tooling in ways aluminum does not. Likewise, steel asks for different speeds and feeds again. Still, the mills run steel, stainless, titanium, copper, brass, and aluminum, so material choice does not have to drive vendor choice.

About this work

CNC milling services are rarely the whole job

A machined part often starts on the laser or the saw and finishes at assembly. Because all of it runs in one building, the part does not get requoted or re-fixtured every time it changes process. Equally, the same inspection follows it from the first cut to the last.

Consistent output is a function of the machine holding accuracy across a run, not of a good first article. In short, that is what the CNC controls and the programming behind them are for. For a closer look at the equipment, the service page below covers spindles, envelopes, and materials in more detail. Meanwhile, the other galleries show what the same building does on the router and at assembly.
