AST has many years of expertise in routing non-ferrous materials. There are times when CNC routing is not only the most efficient but is also the most cost-effective process.

Whether we are cutting Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Phenolics, Plastics, Laminates, or other types of soft material our 3-Axis Routing table can handle the job more efficiently than a Waterjet or Laser. When using a CNC Router, you can control depth which is impossible to do with a Waterjet or Laser. This comes in handy when producing parts that require grooves or steps in the material.

AST Manufacturing advanced its CNC routing & machining capabilities with the 2021 acquisition of the newest machine available from HAAS – the GM-2 Gantry Mill.

The GM-2 is a heavy-duty 4-axis gantry mill, when the rotary indexer is installed, which is designed for serious metal removal and large-part machining, such as airframe components, large plates, and long extrusions. The machine’s rigid steel construction provides a very stable cutting platform.

The GM-2’s large bed size will handle large castings, plates, and assemblies. The machine comes equipped with a 30+1 tool capacity to make changing tools easy. The bed size measures:
